About Pest Control in Leeds

Pest Control in Leeds — Local Knowledge

Apex Pest Control Ltd understands the pest pressures that come with Leeds housing. The city’s dense Victorian terraces create rat runs along shared sewer networks.

Most Leeds rat problems trace back to drainage faults, and rats enter through gaps as small as 12mm. The River Aire, River Wharfe and Leeds–Liverpool Canal drive year-round rodent pressure into nearby homes.

Apex Pest Control treats the cause, not just the symptom — the company’s survey checks drains and entry points, so the problem is resolved rather than repeated.

Leeds Pest Activity

Common Pest Problems in Leeds

Leeds's mix of older terraced housing, commercial districts and green spaces creates ideal conditions for a range of pest species — particularly in autumn and winter when rodents seek shelter.

12mm the gap a rat can enter a property through
June to September peak wasp season in West Yorkshire

Leeds’ dense Victorian terraces — across Armley, Holbeck and Beeston — create rat runs along shared sewer networks, while high student turnover in Headingley and Hyde Park drives bed bug activity and wasp nests peak in lofts from June to September.

Rats & Mice

Rodent activity peaks in autumn across Leeds as temperatures drop. Older housing stock and food businesses are particularly at risk.

Wasps & Bees

Wasp nest season runs from June through to September in West Yorkshire. Nests are commonly found in roof spaces, lofts, and garden sheds.

Bed Bugs

Bed bug infestations in Leeds are increasingly common in HMOs, hotels, and student accommodation. Early treatment prevents spread.

FAQs

Pest Control Leeds — FAQs

Answers to the questions Leeds residents ask most often about pest control.

How much does pest control cost in Leeds?

Apex charges fixed prices with no call-out fee. Treatment prices vary by pest type and property size, but you'll always receive a firm quote before any work begins — no hidden charges.

Is there a call-out fee?
No. Apex does not charge a call-out fee. The price you're quoted is the price you pay for the treatment.
Do prices vary by property size?
For some treatments (such as flea treatment and bed bug treatment) the price does vary by property size. For others (such as rat control and wasp nest removal) the price is fixed regardless of property size. We'll confirm pricing when you call.
Can I see your prices before calling?
Yes. Our prices page lists guide prices for our most common residential treatments. For commercial work, pricing is tailored to the premises and provided after a free site survey.
How quickly can you respond to a pest problem in Leeds?

We aim to respond fast. Our Leeds technician is locally based, which means we can often visit sooner than national pest control companies. Call us directly for the fastest response: 0113 390 4270.

Do you work at weekends?
Yes. Apex is available Monday to Friday 8am–7pm and Saturday to Sunday 8am–1pm. Weekend visits are available without a surcharge.
What's the fastest way to book?
Calling us directly on 0113 390 4270 is the fastest way to arrange a visit. You can also submit an enquiry via our contact page.
Are your treatments safe for children and pets?

Yes. Apex uses professional-grade products approved for use in domestic properties. Your technician will advise on any precautions needed — such as vacating a room for a short period — before treatment begins.

Do I need to leave my home during treatment?
This depends on the treatment. For most rodent treatments you do not need to leave. For some insect treatments (such as bed bug heat treatment) the property needs to be vacated for a few hours. Your technician will advise in advance.
Are the products you use legally approved?
Yes. All products used by Apex are MAPP-registered and approved for use in the UK under the Control of Pesticides Regulations 1986. See our pest control legislation page for more detail.
How many visits will I need to get rid of pests?

Most treatments include an initial visit and at least one follow-up. The number of visits depends on the pest and severity of the infestation. Your technician will advise after the initial inspection.

What's included in the follow-up visit?
Follow-up visits check that the treatment has worked, refresh bait or products where needed, and confirm the infestation has been resolved. For rat control, follow-ups are typically 7–10 days after the initial visit.
What if the problem isn't resolved after treatment?
If the infestation is not resolved within the agreed number of visits, contact your technician directly. We will revisit to assess the situation and advise on next steps.
Are you certified to carry out pest control in Leeds?

Yes. Apex Pest Control is a BPCA member and all our technicians hold a BPCA Award in Pest Management. We are CHAS registered, and fully insured with £5M public liability cover.

What does BPCA certified mean?
BPCA (British Pest Control Association) membership requires technicians to hold a recognised pest control qualification, carry adequate insurance, and adhere to the BPCA Code of Best Practice. It is the industry's leading professional standard.
Can I verify your credentials?
Yes. You can verify Apex Pest Control's BPCA membership on the BPCA member directory. Our certifications page lists all current accreditations.
Do you offer commercial pest control in Leeds?

Yes. Apex provides pest management contracts for businesses across Leeds including restaurants, care homes, food manufacturers, schools, offices, and property management companies. Contracts include compliance documentation suitable for EHO inspection.

Do you provide documentation for EHO inspections?
Yes. Every commercial client receives written treatment records and a pest management plan after each visit — suitable for Environmental Health Officer (EHO) inspection and BRCGS compliance.
How do I get a commercial quote?
The first step is a free site survey. Visit our commercial pest control page to find out more or call us on 0113 390 4270 to arrange a survey.
